Ripley’s Believe it or Not Blackpool
Before you even enter the exhibits the reception area is littered with weird and wonderful items. A giant ball of string, a megalodon shark Jaw and a rather unusual fertility statue. This particular Ripley’s has quite a lot of tribal items contained inside.
It certainly seems to be the key focus of this particular Ripley’s whereas others I’ve been to are more focused on the carnival/freak show side of things.
As we entered and crossed the tribal bridge there are so many incredible things to see. The great thing about Ripley’s is that most of the items contained inside are genuine. Replicas are dotted around here and there for context but the majority of items are original.
I’d love to stay in Ripley’s overnight one time as the items inside have to have some sort of spiritual attachment or similar!
It’s great to see such unusual things including siamese animals, bone flutes, skull bowls and even a real shrunken head!
It’s crazy just how expensive shrunken heads go for in the oddities market. Ripley’s is believed to have the biggest collection of shrunken heads and vampire-killing kits in the world!
With many items inside being of a darker or sinister nature, Ripley’s still keeps the atmosphere more cheery and vibrant with great music and atmosphere.
It certainly tones down the more sinister items that lie within the building.
Fun for all the Family
Ripley’s has so much to see you could easily spend an hour or two trapped inside.
There are interactive sections scattered throughout but simply just reading about every item on display could take some considerable time!
Being such a connoisseur of oddities myself I stayed in quite a while. Just seeing some of the tribal items, dungeon items and more had me hooked (no pun intended). I remember visiting this place over 10 years ago and funnily enough, some of the same items are still here!
If you’re a fan of the freak show and all things unusual you’re going to love it here! Get lost in the world of weird and head on down to Ripley’s Believe it or Not in Blackpool. For the ridiculously affordable price of £7, you can’t go wrong!
